Earthworms – Our Underground Army

Saturday 12 September, 2020 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am

A workshop on the vital contribution that earthworms make to our soils

Dr Trish Fraser, Science Team Leader at Plant and Food Research, will share the knowledge she has gained from over 30 years of research into earthworms and their effects on soil properties – its structure, nutrient availability and losses, organic matter, etc. She will introduce us to the sorts of earthworms we find in New Zealand and explain what they do, the conditions they prefer, and how what we do to the soil can affect them.

Parents: Children are welcome to come and participate. Trish will bring along examples of earthworm species for children to have a look at and ask questions.

Gold coin donation appreciated.
