What is soil health, why is it important, and how do we achieve it?
How healthy is the Lincoln Community Garden?
Julie Gillespie of Lincoln University will present a workshop at the Lincoln Envirotown Community Gardens. Julie is a PhD student in the Soil Science Department, currently researching how to connect people to our soil resource to ensure soil and food security. She has been using our community garden as her “laboratory”, and will report on her findings.
The Lincoln Envirotown Community Gardens are located on James St, on the grounds of the former Lincoln Maternity Hospital.
A gold coin donation will support the Community Gardens.

Presented by Nathan Campbell, a local landscape architect.
Whether you plan to develop a new garden area or have inherited a neglected or boring outdoor space, Nathan will be able to address your questions and suggest practical solutions.
Nathan graduated from Lincoln University in 2021 with First Class Honours in Landscape Architecture. His training and work experience have equipped him with an in-depth understanding of the hardscape and construction methods, so he will bring fresh, innovative ideas to the workshop. Nathan says, “I passionately believe that everyone has the capacity to have a rich and thriving outdoor space, providing them with that personal connection with nature.”
Gold coin donation is appreciated to support the Community Gardens.
